The workshop on Animation, Green Storytelling, and Sustainable Production aimed at reflecting on media and resources, on animation and sustainability.
As researchers in the field of animation studies, we are in the process of figuring out how to best study animation production from a sustainability perspective, what sustainability in digital as well as analogue animation can mean, what data are accessible to us to work with, and how to strive towards increase in transparency and awareness in animation materiality, production, and consumption. The workshop offered the possibility to think about these issues from different perspectives, those of animation artists, practitioners, theorists and historians, in order to advance the current sustainability action through storytelling, which takes place both in and outside academia.
