Mgr. Michal Hořejší, PhD.

Michal Hořejší’s research interests have long focused on discourses on environmental issues, particularly the political instrumentalization of nature conservation. He has studied the debate on wind and bark beetle disturbances in the forests of the Šumava National Park between 1991 and 2010 and the relationship between the traditional image of Šumava’s past and the fiction of Karel Klostermann. His approach is attitude-based and oriented toward problems and therapy, methodologically supported by quantitative analyses of extensive language corpora. Currently, together with Veronika Faktorová and Karel Stibral, he is focusing on the history of the concept and notion of wilderness in the Czech Republic and its influence not only on the dynamics of public discourse on climate change and biodiversity loss, but also on the implementation of European environmental policy.       michal.horejsi(at)ff.cuni.cz Academia.edu; Researchgate; Google Scholar; zrodsumavy.cz
